What is Business Communication?
Before we know about what Business Communication is, we should know the each meaning of business communication like what Business is and what Communication is. Okay, let’s move on to the topic.
1. Business :
a business or also known as an enterprise is an economic activity, which is related with regular production and distribution of goods and services to reach the satisfication of customers in order to get profit for the company.
2. Communication:
Communication is simply and regular act of transfering information, idea, and feelings to other peoples. And aslo in communication we are aslo create amd share meaning.
From the deffinition above, we could conclude that Business Communication is sharing informations to the customers in order to promote the product to get more benefit to the company.
Kind of Business Communication
1. Face-to-face
Face-to-face business communication is personal communication between 2 workers in work place in order to sharing knowledge, skill, and experience to the other one. Usually, face-to-face communication used in training section, like when a new employee is more experienced.
2. Written
Written business communication is one kind of undirectly sharing information. Wiritten comunication used when the sender could not meet with the receiver directly, and the sender should take a note to lieve the information for the receiver. E-mail is one kind of written business communication.
3. Meetings
Meetings are a way to gather a group of people together with common interest in order to sharing information about the a new idea or procedure.
4. Telephone
Communication by phone is the communication which is the sendern and receiver did not meet dirrectly but the message could receive dirrectly. This is used to contact other worker within the business or other companies.
The Element of Communication
1. Sender/Encoder
Encoder or also known as a sender is the persons who sends/shares/gives/ initiates a information or message to receiver. An encoder uses combination of symbols, words, graphs, and picture understandable by the receiver.
2. Receiver/Decoder
Decoder or aslo known as a receiver is the person who got the message from the sender. Every receiver perceives in their way depending on how they facing it.
3. Message
According to Longman Dictionary, message is the main or most important idea that someone trying to tell people about.
4. Channel
The person who is interestes in communicating has to choose the channel for sending the information. This information is transmitted to the receiver through certain channels which may be either formal or information.
Guidelines for Effective communication
1. Clarity purpose
The message to be delivered must be clear in the mind of sender. In order to make the message clear to the receivers, the message should be organized by simple language to understand it easily.
2. Share activity
We can share all activity with our member groups and then we can work together with them. The important thing is all member should be active and also contribution with the job or business.
3. Common set of symbol
If you want communicate with other people become happiness you can use symbol that has meaning and make people understand about it. That simple symbol doesn’t have just one meaning, but it has a fairly common meaning, and general “communication value”
4. Focus on the need of the receiver
Focus on the need of the receiver and don’t ask or discuss something that can’t related with the topic.
5. Active listening
We have two ears and one mouth mainly to listen twice as much as we speak. Instead of mentally rehearsing your next argument, actively listen to what really matters to the other person. Their needs will be your guide to satisfy instead of deviating off-topic.
6. Controlling emotion
Don’t be temperament person if you have a business relation because it can make your relation with collegue or partner will be worst.
7. Politeness
When we want do and tell something to someone don’t be a rude people, because the people can see your attitude with the way you treat them. Show your politeness and the the people will be kind to you.
8. Clarity assumption
The message to be delivered must be clear in the mind of sender. The person to whom it is targeted and the aim of the message should be clear in the mind of the sender.
9. Avoiding connotation
You can’t use the connotation word, you must use the correct word to make all clear.
10. Socio-psychological aspect
Make our socio-psychological aspect matching with our partner, all aspect depending with our partner.
11. Completeness
The message delivered should not be incomplete. It should be supported by facts and observations. It should be well planned and organized. No assumptions should be made by the receiver.
What do you mean by “Effective Communication?”. How does the knowledge of the communication process help us in communicating effectively?
Effective communication is when the message that we have shared is succesfully deliverd, received, and understood by the receiver. Mastering of effective communication is able to help us to resolve defferences while building trust and respect.
What is the major mistake in communication?
I think the major mistake in communication is telling unappropriate jokes. When we told unappropriate jokes, it could makes other peoples feel so uncomfortable.
